ACT – Rufus (M/1yrs)
With a number of homes under his belt, and some early challenges in his young life, Rufus has really taken Foster Care in his stride and is now well and truly ready to find his forever home.
Being a one year old puppy, he has great intentions and loves to enjoy life with a good play of the ball, an ear or belly rub and hanging with his people. He can show a little stress in new situations, something his foster carer worked a lot on with him and with some gentle encouragement and patience he adapts well.
He has basic obedience skills such as walks on lead well, he knows how to sit & drop on command, knows to ‘leave it’ & how to wait for his food.
A full of fun goof ball, he would benefit from a home that knows boxers, has time to put in his training (as he loves to please you) and round out the day with a really good cuddle.
As Rufus hasn’t had many opportunities to play with other dogs throughout his life he is learning the boundaries when it comes to manners, however is getting there & may be suited with a wiser, quieter female dog who is willing to show him what is acceptable or not. He is a huge “no” to cats, but older kids could be great company for him, purely throw his ball 😉
All that Rufus needs is for you to have the time and love for his beautiful soul, and he will continue to prove that this second chance in life is one he’ll enjoy for the rest of it.
Rufus’s best home will be:
– free from cats
– No children under high school years
– Maybe a wise female dog to keep him company
– Life welcome inside your home, both day and night
– Continued training, he is blossoming
– Plenty of daily walks as he is one after all and we all know one year old boxers need exercise!
– Time, encouragement and empathy
Admin note – For those applying with another dog, you must be prepared to travel for a meet and greet with your dog if you are shortlisted.
